Corporate Management Branch (CMB)

  • · The Development Alternatives Annual Review Meeting 2008 was held at TARAgram, Orchha on February 21- 23, 2008. This year’s meeting was special as it focused on 25 years of Development Alternatives and future perspectives. The new corporate strategy will be announced in April 2008.  

 

Environment Systems Branch (ESB)

  · CLEAN-India Jhansi compiled a booklet titled ‘The Journey of a CLEAN Citizen’, which includes articles by CLEAN- India students, their parents and teachers and also chronicles their experiences with the CLEAN- India programme.

· Street plays on water and sanitation were held on five locations in Gol Kuan Slum in Okhla on January 20 , 26, 2008, where preliminary surveys had indicated water quality problems and lack of sanitary practices. This was an awareness-building exercise conducted by DA to lay the foundation for setting up community owned filters and promoting water enterprises.

Technology Systems Branch (TSB)

 

· To generate awareness about technologies related to construction and bring them into mainstream use, a roofing technology demonstration and training programme was organised by basin-South Asia Regional Knowledge Platform on February 1-4, 2008 at TARAgram, Pahuj, Uttar Pradesh. The objective was to demonstrate the four different alternatives for constructing a flat roof, using materials and roofing elements that can be locally produced with ease. The event was supported by ACC India Ltd, Building and Social Housing Foundation (UK) and Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.

Institutional Systems Branch (ISB)

 

· TSG (Training System Group)
   International training courses were organised on February 2008 in TARAgram, Orchha (Madhya Pradesh) on:
  · Organisational Development- A Programme on Managing Change (February 12-14 , 2008)
  · Training of Trainees (ToT) programme on Training Approaches and Methods (February 27-29, 2008)
 
· SAG (Social Action Group)
 
· International Women’s Day will be celebrated at TARAgram, Pahuj on March 8, 2008.
 
· A  leadership development programme for women SHG members is being organised  in Jhansi with the support of NABARD on March 5, 15, 19, 26, 2008.

· SOS (Small Organisations Support)
   Networking meetings for cluster development were held under the PACS programme in the following areas:
  · Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, on February 13 - 14, 2008
  · TARAgram, Madhya Pradesh, on February 18 - 19, 2008
  · Arra, Bihar, on February 26 - 27, 2008
  · Ranchi, Jharkhand, on February 28 - 29, 2008
  · Nagpur, Maharashtra, on February 29, 2008
  · Vaishali, Bihar, on February 29 - March 1, 2008

 

TARAhaat

 

· The total number of agricultural queries generated under the Lifeline India project has crossed 35000. A database on the nature of queries generated is also being prepared.
 
· The total number of TARA Akshar women graduates is now 37000.
